Introducing The Titus Project

…the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed… (Titus 2:3-5)

The book of Titus is a book of instruction from Paul to Titus on how men, women and elders are to teach and live as believers of Jesus Christ and lovers of God.

For a long time, it has been my desire to be mentored in being a good wife and mother. I asked the leaders of my church to start that dialog. The closest program was the women’s fellowship. The desire has stayed in my heart. So, now I believe that God is giving me instruction on how to make the desire of my heart a reality.

I want to include teaching women to love themselves without an attitude that dishonors God. Help them understand that God has instructed them to love themselves and he also instructed them to respect their husband and be his helpmate. Teach them what that means and looks like and to answer questions the younger women may have

Nkechi Apakama

I am Mrs. Nkechi Anne Apakama. This year marks my 36 years of marriage and the joy of raising seven wonderful children with the added delight of one precious grandchild. My journey encompasses roles as both an educator and an associate therapist, where I have had the privilege of shaping young minds and guiding individuals toward personal growth.

Within the realm of education, where I have served for over 30 years, my expertise spans various subjects. From teaching parenting classes to instructing childcare courses, including catering to the needs of all students in a self-contained classroom, I have embraced the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. For the past eighteen years, I have focused on nurturing fourth graders, fostering an environment where learning flourishes for each child to realize their potential.

Beyond the classroom, my dedication extends to my immediate and extended families, including my entire community here in Southern California. I take immense pride in supporting each of my children through their academic endeavors and witnessing them evolve into responsible, successful adults. As a devoted wife, I have stood by my husband's side throughout his professional journey as an Engineer with the California State Department of Transportation, rejoicing in his well-deserved retirement.

Our household is rooted in faith, as we cherish the belief that God’s guidance has been instrumental in shaping our lives. In our Christian home, we find solace, recognizing the blessings that have propelled us to where we stand today.

My philosophy of marriage is rooted in the very fabric of creation. From the book of Genesis to the teachings of Jesus Christ, the Bible presents marriage as a union between man and woman, designed to reflect the divine relationship between Christ and his Church. As Genesis 2:24 proclaims, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh." Here, marriage is portrayed as a union of two individuals united in heart, mind, and spirit.

My special quote comes from Ruth 1:16: "Where you go, I will go, and where you stay I will stay, Your people will be my people and your God my God." This quote exemplifies the beauty and depth of marriage where Ruth pledges her loyalty to her mother-in-law, Naomi. Through this profound commitment, Ruth demonstrates unwavering love and devotion, embodying the sacrificial nature of marital bonds. Ruth and Naomi's relationship is a powerful reminder of the importance of mutual support, selflessness, and fidelity within marriage. Their story transcends time and culture, inspiring us to emulate their example in our own lives.
